What is Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that nurtures healing within us. It treats the whole person including mind, body, emotions and spirit, creating many benefits including deep relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.
Literally translated, Reiki means 'spiritual energy' and is based on the belief that an unseen life force of energy flows through us. Reiki is administered by laying on of hands, and as the energy flows though us, abundantly and freely, it helps us to be happy and healthy.
However, when your energy is low it allows negative stresses, such anger, anxiety and guilt, which can block the energy's flow. This is when you are more likely to get sick or feel stress as these blockages can manifest themselves in different ways according to the individual: typical examples are physical or mental/emotional illnesses that can lead to sleep deprivation.
During a Reiki treatment, the pure flow of energy is re-aligned within the body, helping to clear obstructions and strengthen the flow of energy.
